Mike Thompson Urban Illustrator
Mike Thompson lives in Atlanta. Although I have yet to meet him I know some people who have some of his artwork. His style of illustration and painting are worth the time to visit his site, very nice stuff.
Hope to work with Mike on some projects in 2009.
Over the years his design / illustration sense has contributed to the success of several clothing companies. Marc Ecko quickly gravitated to Mike’s unique talents for his culturally infused apparel and featured Thompson’s designs ubiquitously. Numerous contemporary recording artists such as Jay Z, Kanye, Linkin Park and P. Diddy sought out Mike’s style, catapulting his career. Work in the areas of video game packaging, books, albums and magazines worldwide were to follow.
Carhartt Streetwear 2009 meeting
This weekend I caught up with Cuskon and Peter from Carharrtt Streetwear. This was their first time in the good old USA, I felt honored to be their guide for the day. We had a blast and chopped it up about the state of the world and where street wear was heading. To say the least they were great to hang out with and we laughed and tripped out the entire time. Good people and good vibes. Be sure to check out Carhartt Streetwear and show some love. I will be working with these guys in 2009, I will keep you posted.
I now have two good friends in Germany, Yes!

Dave Kinsey
dave KinseyDave Kinsey has alot new art up over at his site. I first found out about Kinsey from the work he use to do with Shepard Fairey back in the 2,000s. His style is like no other. As soon as people start bitting what he is doing he seems to change directions. Stop by his site and show him some love and maybe buy a piece of art. One day I will have one of his pieces hanging on my wall, God willing. http://www.kinseyvisual.com/
Kinsey is always one of my go to artist for some inspiration, hope he does the same for you.

The music is streaming but what is great is that you can hear song after song from your favorite artist for FREE! Free is the new economy if you didn't know. This is like having a world wide itunes app at your fingertips. Jump to the link and enjoy. http://www.grooveshark.com

Marlo Herring Photography
I first met Marlo almost 4 years ago. He was hired to do a freelance photoshot for the large corporation I work for without my input, I was on vacation. After our first meeting to go over the 7 week project that I was art directing and design I had my doubts about Marlo. Boy was I ever so wrong. Needless to say the project went smooth, on time and on budget, and the pictures were better than I could have ever dreamed. Marlo and I won a national award with Graphic Design USA for the piece we worked on together. When you do a 7 week long photo shoot, day in and day out, and travel by air from location to location you really get to know the person you are working side by side with. Ever since this project Marlo became my go to photographer for any project I'm designing that calls for custom photography.
More important, Marlo also became my friend.
He can be your photographer also, check the link above.
Scott Bourne
Scott Bourne and I grew up in the same small town in NC. Early on skateboarding took over both of our lives and has played a hugh part in who we both are as men. Scott moved to California and became a professional skater and he is still making a living at it today. He rides for Carhartt Clothing and has had a pro model shoe made by PUMA. Scott over the years begin to write short stories and poems to fill some time, but like everything this man sets his mind to the writing became great also. He has written for SLAP skateboarding mag and has now published his second book titled "Cheating On the Metronome" along with Carhartt.
Here is the info on his book. http://www.carhartt-streetwear.com/skate/blog/2008/07/Cheating-on-the-Metronome
Scott taught me how to love a truely except myself. He is one of the bravest men I have ever known, ever. He is the real one of kind person that we all want to be. He has been a great friend for more than 20 years now.
Scott showed me and a lot of his other friends that your life can be what ever you want it to be. Much respect and love. Hats of to one hell of a individual. The one and only... Scott Bourne.
Jason Grooms
Jason Grooms became my step brother a few years ago when his father and my mother got married. One could easily assume that gaining a brother in your late 20's would be awkward, I got 3 younger brothers with the marriage. Happy to say that all three of my new brothers have surprised me with their sincere love and support of my family and our family together.
Jason's job has him traveling all over the country and he has gotten serious with his photography since he is seeing so many cool places and things.
You will be impressed with his skills.
Check the link below for a look.

Cookin Soul
Cookin Soul is a trio of music producers from Spain who are making some of the best mixtapes in the world. Check em out at their myspace site. Once there be sure to check out their free download mixtapes on the left hand side of the page. The Issac hayes mix is one of the best mixtapes I have ever heard, really. Read all about this production team on their site, they have great music for free, enough said.
UPDATE: Cookin Soul has all ten mixtapes for $5.00 still a great deal.
Shaun Boothe
Real hip hop is alive and well incase some of you have forgotten. There is good stuff out there you just have to know where to look. I came across Shaun Boothe over at 2dobeboyz.com about a month ago and just haven't had a chance to post. Shaun has a series of biographies coming once a month where he raps about icons in American history. The first one he posted was on James Brown which is a great song and video. The second one is about Bob Marley and Shaun really out does himself on this one also. Can't wait for the third one to drop this month, stay tuned.
Here is a link to the songs and videos.

Shepherd Fairey
Besides my best friend, I don't know of any one artist/designer who has moved me and influenced me the way Shepherd has. I'm online a lot and I know people either love or hate this guy, me, I love him. His work ethic and the amount of stuff he makes is beyond my words. This post want be long because you can read fare better stuff about his life and art than I can write. He has interviews and art all over the internet and youtube. his two websites are http://obeygiant.com and http://studionumberone.com/main/
Shepherd, hats off and much love and respect.
Chris Woods Photography

Chris Woods has been popping up all over the blogs this week and so I thought I would hop in on the fun. I can't give one specific blog the credit for this entry cause I have seen him all over the place. Not much info on Chris on his site beside his contact info, who cares, the photos speak well for the man and that is all that we need anyway. Check him, link.
